YouTube removed a video from the channel of far-right vlogger Steve Crowder after he revealed three pages from the Nashville school shooter's manifesto.

In a post to X on Tuesday, Crowder shared an email from YouTube that stated that the video had been taken down for violating the website's community guidelines.

"Our community guidelines prohibit linking to content containing manifestos from individuals who have committed violent attacks, including the tragic event that took place in Nashville, Tennessee, in February 2023," the email read.

https://twitter.com/scrowder/status/1721876891731145216?s=20

The shooting, which led to the death of three children and three adults, was carried out by a transgender man who previously attended the school. Refusal by law enforcement to immediately release the manifesto was seen by conservatives as evidence of a cover-up, intended to hide the role of the shooter's gender identity in the tragedy.

But the three pages from the manifesto showed no such mention of transitioning and instead showed the shooter's anger towards what he saw as privileged white children. Conservatives quickly shifted gears and instead placed the blame on progressive ideology and even President Joe Biden.

Supporters of Crowder responded to the removal with vitriol. Some even accused YouTube of being an "enemy of the people."

Critics, however, including other journalists who've been attempting to obtain the manifesto, argued that the three pages do not show the full picture.

"Multiple sources have told me that the selective leak of three pages of the #CovenantSchool shooting 'manifesto' is EXTREMELY misleading," journalist Phil Williams wrote. "People who have read the whole thing say 'there’s something in there for everybody.' Another, 'She hated everybody.'"

https://twitter.com/NC5PhilWilliams/status/1721560262996525319?s=20

Crowder, in his Rumble video sharing the manifesto, seemed well aware he was violating YouTube's policies, noting repeatedly he expected the video to be taken down.

In response, users argued that such claims highlight why the manifesto should be released in full.

At least one parent of a victim from the shooting has criticized Crowder and accused him of merely "chasing clicks."

The Nashville mayor's office confirmed on Monday that they are investigating how the three pages were leaked.

Steven Crowder, right-wingers pivot to white privilege argument after Nashville shooter manifesto doesn’t discuss gender https://www.dailydot.com/debug/nashville-manifesto-steven-crowder/ Mon, 06 Nov 2023 16:15:29 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1428644 steven crowder nashville manifesto

In March 2023, a trans man shot and killed six people at a school in Nashville, Tennessee. In the wake of the shooting, police obtained a manifesto of the shooter, which was kept unreleased as authorities investigated.

Because of the gender identity of the shooter, a number of conservatives used the incident to push claims of a trans mass shooting pandemic, wherein an armed transgender community was hunting down cisgender people who refused to accept their gender identities.

No such pandemic exists, but the fact that the manifesto was kept under lock for so long helped aid the argument, that the government was trying to secretly keep hidden the fact that trans people were hell-bent on murder.

Today, right-wing vlogger Steven Crowder released three pages of what he said was the transgender shooter's manifesto on his live stream.

While it's not the full manifesto (according to Crowder there were many more pages), nothing in it discusses the shooter's transition or gender identity.

The shooter, Audrey Hale, does use gay slurs to describe people at her school. But the manifesto seems to be more directed toward white kids, calling them "crackers."

In kicking off his show, Crowder called the manifesto "pretty disturbing." But he also noted that what seemed to motivate Hale was not trans identity, but "hatred of white people and hatred of white privilege."

Now, right-wingers like Alex Jones, who helped Crowder publish the manifesto, instead focused on the shooter being a "brainwashed" liberal who hated white people, looping in topics in school like critical race theory, and how the education system is turning kids into anti-white crusaders

While certainly another right-wing talking point, that still doesn't have anything to do with transitioning.

https://twitter.com/TiffHuber/status/1721554662732820986

During his live stream, Crowder noted how the motivations of recent shootings, such as in Buffalo and Jacksonville, were revealed to be racially motivated immediately following the incidents. Nashville, however, wasn’t initially labeled as racially motivated, leading Crowder to now now claim the manifesto was kept under wraps for its race content instead of gender identity concerns.

In the pages Crowder released, there was also a timeline of the day the shooter wrote out, which included the phrase "film video."

While it's unclear if a video was actually filmed, now a number of right-wingers online are demanding the video get released, further moving whatever goalposts they had.

Pro-Trump singer blames Satan after portable charger catches fire on flight https://www.dailydot.com/debug/pro-trump-rapper-jimmy-levy-blames-satan-fire/ Thu, 02 Nov 2023 16:59:11 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1426657 Pro-Trump rapper blames Satan after battery catches fire on plane

A singer known for his support of former President Donald Trump is blaming Satan after his backpack caught fire while on a plane in New York.

Jimmy Levy, who appeared on American Idol in 2020, shared a post to X on Wednesday alleging that a "spiritual attack from the pits of hell" caused his portable charger to burst into flames as he was waiting for his flight to take off.

"On Monday I faced one of scariest moments of my life. Right after falling asleep pre-takeoff on my flight back home to South Florida from New York, I was jolted awake by a sudden and terrifying wave of heat, seemingly shooting towards my face," he wrote. "I immediately opened my eyes and noticed my backpack, which was initially tucked underneath my seat, now in a exploding and floating ball of fire."

https://twitter.com/JimmyLevyMusic/status/1719851826411950276?s=20

Known best for his appearance on the pro-Trump rapper Forgiato Blow's "Boycott Target" song, which took aim at the department store for carrying LGBTQ merchandise, Levy also shared footage of flight attendants pouring bottles of water on his bag.

Police, according to Levy, later stated that they believed an overheated portable charger had caused the fire. But according to Levy, the devil was the real culprit.

"I am convinced that this entire scenario was a spiritual attack from the pits of hell and I rebuke it in the name of Jesus! I rejoice during this time, because I only have a few burns on my hands," he added. "I thank God for my life and the safety of my family and everyone else on that flight! I’m grateful that we were still on the ground when it occurred. This will only make my faith stronger. No weapon formed against anyone reading this shall prosper in Jesus name!"

But while fellow Trump supporters offered Levy their thoughts and prayers, the majority of users on X mocked the singer for his explanation.

"Hahahah the fucking dork things the devil tried to kill him," one user wrote. "But it was really just because he wanted to save a few dollars on a charger and bought generic."

https://twitter.com/General_Void/status/1720088506771665061?s=20

https://twitter.com/jessehawken/status/1720097501917941776?s=20

Others jokingly argued that the singer's political views had actually caused God to smite him.

"@jimmylevymusic maybe your god is punishing you for the hate against the LBGTQ+ community," another said.

https://twitter.com/explodingtvroom/status/1720099897586667982?s=20

Levy claimed in a July interview with Fox News that he left the mainstream music industry after his involvement with the occult led him to be harassed by demonic entities.

"That's when I started getting tormented at night by demons. There were times because I was smoking—I was doing a lot of things that were affecting my voice," he said. "And I couldn't even sing at some point. I started really getting attacked constantly, constantly. And I realized that Satan was real."

Conspiratorial libs accuse NYPD cop of flashing secret ‘white power’ sign to Donald Trump Jr. https://www.dailydot.com/debug/cop-accused-white-power-donald-trump-jr/ Thu, 02 Nov 2023 14:07:27 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1426594 doonald trump white power cop

A police officer is being accused of throwing a white power hand sign at Donald Trump Jr. on Wednesday during his appearance at the civil fraud trial against his family, although the evidence is thin.

Footage of the moment, in which the officer can be seen holding up three fingers as Trump Jr. enters the courthouse, was shared to X by a user convinced that something nefarious had taken place. The three fingers, according to the user, represent the "W" in white power.

"On @MSNBC we just witnessed a cop who threw donald j trump Junior the white pride fingers as he ascended the courthouse steps. He needs to be fired," the user said. "This police officer needs to be fired, post haste. Shame on @MSNBC for not bringing attention to this on air."

The video has since been seen more than 656,000 times, but most users appear unconvinced that the footage proves anything beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Multiple users suggested that the officer was merely referencing to other officers the number three, a premise that the video's uploader argued is untrue.

"It’s been pretty much confirmed he’s asking other cops 'how many' and certain coming in or something along those lines... don’t jump at click bait folks," the user wrote.

https://twitter.com/JoeKamalaTicket/status/1719805186279952431?s=20

"Not true. But he’s free to use that excuse when they call him in. Point is he needs to account for this. Period," they replied.

Some questioned whether the uploader was just a troll looking to enrage other users online.

One user also claimed that the officer was merely telling Trump Jr. that he would be entering Courtroom 300.

Even Brett Meiselas, co-founder of the anti-Trump organization Meidas Touch, and no stranger to conspiratorial posting, pushed back on the assertion.

"Stupid conspiracy theories like this make everyone look idiotic," he wrote. "The officer was clearly just doing his job, likely confirming Don Jr. was walking in with 3 people. The commenters all want to rush to fire the officer? Get a grip, people."

Despite the pushback, countless users continued to argue for the officer to be fired.

In reality, the officer's intentions are unknown. The three fingers could signal a multitude of things.

Trump Jr. testified for 90 minutes during the trial on Wednesday and is expected in court again on Thursday.

‘Joe’s memory is declining’: Marjorie Taylor Greene drops cringe ‘Addams Family’ parody of Biden Family scandals https://www.dailydot.com/debug/marjorie-taylor-greene-biden-family-parody-halloween/ Wed, 01 Nov 2023 13:41:09 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1425665 Majorie Taylor Green(l), Addams Family(c), Joe Biden(r)

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is being ridiculed online after posting a parody video on Halloween mocking the family of President Joe Biden.

In a post to X on Tuesday, Greene shared a satirical video about the Biden family set to the "Addams Family" theme song.

"The Biden Family occupying the White House is a real Halloween horror!" Greene wrote.

https://twitter.com/RepMTG/status/1719506336679878961?s=20

Lyrics in the video make references to Biden's son Hunter with such poetic gems as "They took some cash from China, then smoked crack with a minor, Joe's memory is declining, the Biden family."

Other lyrics take aim at Hunter for the nude photographs of his that were leaked online.

"Old Hunter is a sleezebag, took bribes from Chariman Xi, yeah, shot movies with his weiner, the Biden family," the song continues.

But Greene's apparent humor failed to catch on and instead resulted in the congresswoman herself becoming the target of ridicule.

"You thought you cooked with this corny ass shit @RepMTG," one user wrote.

https://twitter.com/PhatB0i420/status/1719694691992523017?s=20

https://twitter.com/JClawguy/status/1719684845830300138?s=20

Others complained about Greene's salary being paid by the public in response to the clip.

"We are paying taxes for you to do this????" another asked.

"You are a deeply unserious person," a second user added.

The video has been viewed more than 1 million times so far and has received some minor praise from conservatives.

Nevertheless, the vast majority of feedback appeared to be negative.

"Imagine having a US Congresswoman who tweets out a Happy Halloween greeting to all of her constituents," social media personality Brian Krassenstein said. "The greeting talks about Hunter Biden‘s wiener and pokes fun at the US president while showing pictures of herself showing off naked photos of the president’s son to the US Congress. Now imagine thinking that this person should be a Congresswoman. And liberals are supposedly the perverted ones obsessed with sex, right?"

https://twitter.com/VKellySCKappa86/status/1719560041991139562?s=20

Despite the widespread mockery, Greene is unlikely to ease up on her attempts at humor.

As noted by others, Greene also embarrassed herself in July after holding up a picture in Congress of Hunter engaged in a sex act.

‘Execution of a White Man broadcast in front of millions’: Trolls claim freak hockey accident was a secret hate crime after finding out player involved was Black https://www.dailydot.com/debug/adam-johnson-matt-petgrave-hockey-accident-race-war/ Mon, 30 Oct 2023 14:01:09 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1424427 Adam Johnson jersey

Over the weekend, a former NHL player died after taking a skate to the neck in a freak, on-ice accident. Adam Johnson, 29, who played for the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2018-1019, was currently on the Nottingham Panthers in England's Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL).

On Saturday, in a game against the Sheffield Steelers, Johnson took a skate to the neck from Matt Petgrave, who got tangled with another player as he crossed the blue.

What you wouldn't think would amount to much of any outrage by American political trolls—hockey is a relatively niche sport even in the U.S., and the league in England is levels below other professional leagues across the world—suddenly became fodder for a race war.

That's because Petgrave is Black, and Johnson is white.

And when video of the incident began circulating on X, which shows Petgrave's leg flying up, rather than Johnson's falling down (which is how some might presume something like this could happen), suddenly Petgave was being accused of committing a hate crime.

"An execution of a White Man was broadcast in front of millions. A wild ⚫️ hockey player deliberately lifts his leg and draws a razor-sharp blade across Adam Johnson’s throat — Adam Johnson would later succumb to his wounds at the hospital. An execution of a White Man was broadcast in front of millions of viewers, prepare accordingly," wrote one troll.

While those pushing the video were helping raise its view count, the league is small enough to put out press releases whenever one of its games is broadcast on TV.

But that fact didn't deter internet trolls from using this death to demand justice for white people.

"Matt Petgrave murdered Adam Johnson. We have become so detached with reality that you can watch a black man murder someone during an ice hockey game, and nothing happens. MAKE NO MISTAKES If the races were reversed, cities would be burning to the ground right now," wrote Reed Spahr.

"Matt Petgrave (black hockey player) Straight up murdered a guy (Adam Johnson) on the ice and there is no outrage because Matt is black. Wtf. Ban and jail immediately!" added one user.

"This was kung-fu kick by the guy in red. This was murder. First degree," wrote a popular QAnon conspiracy account.

"Anti-White terrorism on national TV," wrote prominent conspiracy theorist Lauren Witzke, blaming the media as well. "The Media of course is running cover for Matt Petgrave, saying it was a 'sstray boot' that sliced Adam Johnson’s throat.

According to fans of Johnson's team who spoke to the Daily Mail, Petgrave was absolutely distraught after the incident, and they saw him "'break with shock and trauma' after seeing what had happened."

Police are currently investigating, and it's not impossible Petgrave could be charged. Three NHL players over the league's history have been arrested for their action on ice, although those were all deemed behavior that had intent to harm or injury.

Though anything is possible, it seems doubtful that police will unearth evidence Petgrave was secretly trying to commit a hate crime during a very public sporting event.

Maine shooting suspect liked posts pushing fears of trans mass shooting panic from far-right figures https://www.dailydot.com/debug/robert-card-x-account-conservatives/ Thu, 26 Oct 2023 13:38:31 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1422499

The X account of accused Maine mass shooter Robert Card showed a deep interest in the political beliefs espoused by prominent conservatives such as ex-Fox News host Tucker Carlson and Donald Trump Jr.

Card is said to have opened fire at a bowling alley and bar in the city of Lewiston on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of 18 people as well as 13 injuries. Card thus far has not been apprehended by authorities and his whereabouts remain unknown. He is currently considered a "person of interest" by police.

A 40-year-old trained firearms instructor, Card, according to media reports, recently complained about “hearing voices” and had even threatened to shoot up an Army base where he served as a reservist. Card was also placed in a mental health facility for two weeks last summer.

Now, Card's X account, which was removed after the shooting, sheds light on the suspected shooter's political beliefs.

Examination of Card's likes on X show support for high-profile individuals such as platform owner Elon Musk, internet personality Catturd, and conservative filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza, among others.

https://twitter.com/EliotHiggins/status/1717462615272632534?s=20

Card was found to have liked a post from Trump Jr. in March that stated: "Given the incredible rise of trans/non-binary mass shooters in the last few years… by far the largest group committing as a percentage of population… maybe, rather than talking about guns we should be talking about lunatics pushing their gender affirming bullsh** on our kids?"

That same month, Card similarly liked a post from Carlson in which he described the "trans movement" as the "natural enemy" of Christianity.

A post from D'Souza in which he sarcastically called for banning cars instead of assault weapons was also liked by Card.

It remains unclear who removed Card's account.

Card was also found to have frequently liked tweets from Musk. He appears to have joined the site in November 2022, when Musk took over.

Card, who is currently the subject of a multi-agency manhunt, is considered armed and dangerous.

Chat logs from right-wing group pushing book bans in school leak https://www.dailydot.com/debug/advocates-for-d20-kids-discord-leak/ Tue, 17 Oct 2023 15:15:40 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1416964 Hand holding phone showing Discord app in app store

Chat logs from a right-wing activist group were published online this week, revealing the organization's efforts to ban books in Colorado.

Obtained from the group's Discord server, the chat logs were originally reported on by the Colorado Springs Indy earlier this month before becoming publicly available on Monday.

The group, known as Advocates for D20 Kids, has pushed for the removal of LGBTQ books from a school district in the northern part of Colorado Springs.

The website that published the chat logs—https://derrickwilburn.com—is named after the group's co-founder and Academy District 20 school board candidate Derrick Wilburn. The chats go back a year, from October 2022 to October 9, 2023.

Wilburn is also the founder and executive director for the Rocky Mountain Black Conservatives and runs a podcast titled "Uncle Tom Talks."

Willburn rose to fame in Colorado after giving a viral critique of critical race theory at a school board meeting in 2021. He would later speak at an election conspiracy theory event in 2022 hosted by MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell.

The chat logs show a deeper insight into Willburn's anti-LGBTQ views. In one remark in August of last year, as reported by the Colorado Springs Indy, Wilburn asked his fellow group members to sign a petition calling for LGBTQ clubs to lose their "curricular" status.

"These flyers discussing gender and/or sexuality have no place in our schools and certainly should not be placed in hallways for all to see and read," the petition shared by Wilburn said. "Many of our children have expressed strong feelings of unease over such materials being displayed, thus their sense of ‘belonging’ is being threatened."

The Daily Dot reached out to Willburn for comment over email but did not receive a reply

In other remarks, Willburn referred to a political opponent as a Satanist and once said lesbians would be ready to attend a school board meeting "breathing fire," which Wilburn clarified to mean "angry."

Links to the website sharing the group's chat logs have begun to spread on social media websites such as X.

Advocates for D20 Kids has not commented on the matter on its website or on its Facebook page.

This piece has been updated to more accurately reflect a text from Wilburn.

EXCLUSIVE: The Daily Wire spent over $1 million on Facebook ads to convince customers its anti-woke razors don’t suck https://www.dailydot.com/debug/jeremys-razors-daily-wire-facebook/ Tue, 17 Oct 2023 13:36:07 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1416620 Jeremy’s Razors: The Greatest Commercial Ever

The Daily Wire spent nearly $150,000 on Facebook ads in the past month promoting their “anti-woke” shaving company Jeremy’s Razors.

The Daily Dot’s analysis of Meta’s Ad Library found that the right-wing media site spent a minimum of $144,300 on countless ads featured across the Facebook pages of Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro, podcaster Candace Owens, and the official Jeremy’s Razors account.

The company has been endlessly pushing the product on Facebook. Since January 2023, the Jeremy's Razors' Facebook page alone has spent over a million dollars marketing the product.

This comes amid a slew of negative customer reviews complaining about the alleged poor quality of the razors.

The ad campaign, which began in September, touts the razors as a “woke-free” alternative to more mainstream shaving brands, encouraging men to “embrace” both their “masculinity” and “traditional values.”

“Shave your stubble, not your masculinity,” one ad reads.

“It’s time to man up,” another one says.

A third specifically takes a dig at trans people, claiming that “woke razor companies are encouraging men to transition genders.”

While not every ad is exactly the same, they all make the general claim that buying products—from razors to moisturizers—from Jeremy’s Razors will help men “discover” their “great skin” while giving them “the power to kick woke companies that hate your values out of your home.”

Named after Daily Wire CEO Jeremy Boering, Jeremy’s Razors was created in response to Harry’s terminating their advertising partnership with the Daily Wire in March 2021 over the site’s “inexcusable” views of the LGBTQ community. At the time, an X user tagged the direct-to-consumer shaving brand in a tweet, expressing outrage over Daily Wire podcaster Michael Knowles interviewing Joseph Nicolosi Jr.—the son of the late famed conversion therapist Joseph Nicolosi Sr.

Having carried on his father’s work after his death, Nicolosi Jr. is the founder of the Reintegrative Therapy Association, which boasts a high success rate of “decreasing unwanted sexual behaviors” in men with “same-sex attractions.”

“It is wrong that Harry’s or anyone sponsors this vile content,” the user wrote.

Almost three weeks later, Harry’s responded to the post, announcing their decision to pull their advertising from the Daily Wire, condemning the views expressed in the video, which the company said were “at odds with our longtime support of the LGBTQ+ community.” Displeased with this decision, Boering decided to start his own shaving brand, launching Jeremy’s Razors exactly one year later.

In an announcement video for the new brand, which was uploaded to Facebook on March 22, 2022, Boering is pictured setting Harry’s razors on fire with a flamethrower and mocking the company’s support of LGBTQ people. In the clip, he also goes on to claim that firefighters would be “more manly” if they shaved with Jeremy’s Razors and complains that conservatives are “being canceled by Hollywood, the media, universities, and now Harry’s razors.”

Since then, every mainstream razor company’s efforts to make their products and ads more diverse and inclusive have become a marketing opportunity for Jeremy’s Razors to offer up its anti-woke alternative.

While Boering expresses confidence in the shaving products in his self-proclaimed “Greatest Commercial Ever,” this is not necessarily reflected in the reviews and sales for Jeremy’s Razors.

In recent months, customers have been leaving negative reviews on Jeremy’s Razors’ Facebook page, criticizing the quality of the razors and other shaving products. In one review from September, a Facebook user describes the razors as “terrible,” claiming that both her and her husband tried out the razors and found that they were “dull.”

“Don't waste your money,” she wrote.

“Tried them for the first time and I will now throw them in the trash,” another post reads. “Worst shave ever. Felt like I was dry shaving. Absolutely horrible experience.”

One disappointed customer commented that he “really wanted to like these razors,” but the blades “pull” on his facial hair. “If you're trying to start an alternative economy, you're going to have to make a better product than this,” he said.

Another user said the razors left her with “bad razor burn,” adding that her husband “looked like he’d been in a knife fight.”

“I've subscribed for way too long because I support the cause, but a rusty Bic disposable probably has sharper blades,” one commenter wrote in October.

For most of the dissatisfied customers who left reviews, their main complaint is the apparent dullness and cheapness of the razors, which they say left them in pain.

Overall, the razors have a 2.6 out of 5 rating from nearly 500 reviews on Facebook.

Amid this onslaught of negative reviews, the Daily Wire has not only increased ad spending for Jeremy’s Razors, but put many of their products on sale, including the Precision 5 Starter Kit, which appears to be the most advertised product.

The ad spend though, is nothing new. In March 2023, the company spent a quarter-million dollars on Facebook ads for the page for products from the brand, ranging from charcoal body wash to "Paraben-free, sulfate-free, woke-free" hair conditioner.

Facebook ad library gives an estimated spending range, but using the low-end of the figures, Jeremy's Razors alone spent over $1,000,000 on ads, including a quarter-million purchase to hype anti-woke chocolate the group also launched.

While it is unclear exactly how much revenue the company has made to date, the numbers available do not show much growth.

In March 2022, Jeremy's Razors claimed to have sold 45,000 razor subscriptions in its first week. But a year later, in March 2023, they claimed to have only sold around 130,000 razors total. As a subscription-based company, Jeremy’s Razors allows products to be delivered on a recurring basis every one to 12 months, depending on the product. The Precision 5 Starter Set is $29.99 full price and is currently on sale for $23.99, the Precision 5 Trial Set is $14.99, and the Precision 5 razor and year’s supply of blade refills is $95.99 full price, but is on sale for $74.99.

The Daily Wire has also taken to promoting Jeremy’s Razors in their news articles. In late September, the site took a swipe at Proctor & Gamble’s shaving brand Braun, criticizing the company for being “woke” and embracing “radical gender ideology” after running an ad featuring a trans man shaving.

Although it’s not uncommon for the Daily Wire to call out companies for expressing so-called “woke” values, more than half of the article reads as an ad for Jeremy’s Razors, with the author promoting the “range” of products that Jeremy’s offers to conservatives. “Jeremy’s exists so you don’t have to give your money to companies that hate your values,” the article reads.

But it remains to be seen if efforts like this to hype the razors will work.

For many customers, one purchase seems to have been enough.

Gab users are making AI-generated images of Hitler in a Pixar movie https://www.dailydot.com/debug/gab-ai-hitler-pixar-bing-image-generator/ Wed, 11 Oct 2023 14:27:23 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1413510 Pixar Studio entrance

Users on Gab, the social media platform popular among the far-right, are testing the limits of artificial intelligence (AI) by generating movie posters of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler in the animation style of Disney's Pixar.

In a post on the platform this month, one user showed off an image depicting a smirking Hitler standing in front of prisoners outside a concentration camp. The faux movie poster included both the Disney and Pixar logos as well as the title "'Caust," an apparent reference to the Holocaust.

"The AI has learned to reproduce the Pixar art aesthetic perfectly and now it’s producing pure gold," the user wrote. "How long before they shut it down?"

The illustration, which, according to the user, was developed with Microsoft's Bing Image Creator, was quickly flooded with praise from Gab's users.

"This is great," one user replied. "Make posters out of these."

Others took the initiative to create similar movie posters featuring imagery resembling the Holocaust. One such image showed a young concentration camp prisoner digging his own grave while surrounded by military officers.

Another user opted to generate a racist depiction of a Jewish man and an African American.

Even though Bing's AI has numerous guardrails in place, people online continually show that those boundaries could be crossed.

Earlier this month, users also began trolling the image generator to show everyone from SpongeBob SquarePants to Mickey Mouse carrying out the 9/11 terror attacks.

Despite Bing blocking the use of phrases such as "World Trade Center," "twin towers," and "9/11," according to 404 Media's Samantha Cole, one can simply bypass those restrictions by instead prompting the AI to show a character "sitting in the cockpit of a plane, flying toward two tall skyscrapers."

Microsoft has vowed to continue improving its systems in order to stop the development of what it says is "harmful content."
